Over the last few months I’ve been getting more and more questions emailed to me about all sorts of photography queries. It’s been taking up a lot of my time writing each person back – which I try to do. But I had a thought. Many of these questions are very similar and so, in an effort to help ya’ll I’ve decided that I’m going to try to answer you questions in a new video series called CameraShy Q & A.
So here’s the first one – Emily from Arizona asks me which DSLR she should buy.

Hello Ingrid,
Just wanted to thank you for this video. This is great information especially for someone just starting out and needing some direction to get going. Looking forward to the next video.
PS: It’s nice to see someone who is passionate about what they do and towards the people who look to them for advice. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Michael
wonderful post! I see how different cameras and styles help you decide on different cameras
Great video! I agree with everything you are recommending! This is basically what I tell people when they ask about camera advice.
Just wanted to say thanks for making a confusing subject so easy to understand! I agree with Michael in that it is great to see someone who actually CARES and wants to help people in their photography endeavors. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Thanks Alex! I do try
It is important for a photographer to choose a good DSLR camera. It is different from a compact camera. Your post is very helpful for professional photographers in choosing a right DSLR camera. Thanks for this useful background information.
I really liked your new video format. You make choosing a DSLR camera simpler with easy to follow guidelines.
I was struggling with a DSLR purchase and selected the D5100, then Nikon announced the D3200, there was an instant sense of remorse!
Awh Greg, Unfortunately that is the photo industry game. It’s impossible to keep up so just focus on the gear you have. The D5100 is still an awesome camera!
A photog suggested that I get the Canon instead of the T3i because I do not plan on doing spectacular with video. With the money saved, they suggested another lens. So I got the nifty/fifty which I caught a humongous deal and a Canon EF 55-250mm lens. Should I have buyer’s remorse for not getting the T3i?
Catina,
You don’t say which Canon you got but I’m sure you will be just fine.. What’s most important is the lenses you use and it sounds like you’ve got that sorted. I’m sure you will be fine!
i think i will tried to buy The Canon T3i. i hope i can find shop that sell it in my town.
